When cold weather sets in, nothing brings comfort like a pot of hearty, homemade soup simmering away. Below are two winter classics that you can prepare at home and keep warm for hours using your SYBO Soup Warmer or SYBO Bain Marie — perfect for family gatherings, parties, or serving multiple bowls throughout the day.

Creamy Chicken & Wild Rice Soup

A rich, velvety blend of tender chicken, earthy wild rice, and aromatic vegetables, this soup is the definition of cozy winter comfort.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked shredded chicken

  • 1 cup wild rice, uncooked

  • 3 carrots, diced

  • 2 celery stalks, diced

  • 1 small onion, diced

  • 6 cups chicken broth

  • 3 tbsp butter

  • 3 tbsp flour

  • 1 cup heavy cream (or half-and-half)

  • 1 tsp dried thyme

  • Salt & pepper to taste

  • Optional: parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the wild rice: Prepare the wild rice according to package directions; set aside.

  2. Sauté the vegetables: In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add carrots, celery, and onion, and sauté for 5–7 minutes until softened.

  3. Add flour: Sprinkle the flour over the vegetables. Stir for 1 minute to create a thick paste.

  4. Pour in broth: Slowly whisk in chicken broth until the mixture becomes smooth and slightly thickened.

  5. Simmer: Add thyme, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10–12 minutes.

  6. Add chicken & rice: Stir in shredded chicken and cooked wild rice.

  7. Finish with cream: Reduce heat to low and gently stir in the cream. Warm for 3–4 minutes, avoiding boiling.

  8. Serve: Garnish with parsley and serve warm.
